The House of Leitão was established at the end of the eighteenth century in the city of Porto, Portugal. In 1887 Leitão and Irmão were honoured with the title of Jewellers to the Portuguese Crown. They have served as jewellers to five kings of Portugal and Brazil. The Leitão and Irmão hallmark is the oldest in Portugal and the company continues to the present day.

Handsome cabochon emerald on 18K yellow and pink gold large case by Cartier, from Paris circa 1930s. This substantial case, set with cabochon emerald as the thumb piece, features a very typical design of that of the transitional age between the Deco period and the Retro period.

Hallmarks: Cartier Paris, London, New York, French 18K gold assay mark, maker’s mark.
