本尊菩薩造像异常華麗，束發高髻，頭戴寶冠，面相方正，臉頰豐圓，眉眼上挑，下視云云衆生，面容秀美，神態安詳，完美的表現了觀音菩薩善男子形象。耳際有向外橫出的扇形冠結，耳下垂挂大圓環。寬肩細腰，腰部柔軟而有動感，細部刻劃精細入微，生動傳神。菩薩身著天衣綢裙，上身胸前飾項圈和長鏈，項圈下綴U字形連珠式瓔珞，下身著長裙，腰間束帶，腰帶下前幷左右亦有U字形連珠瓔珞裝飾。雙肩披帔帛，帔帛從肩部垂于手臂內側，然幷從內側折回向外搭在手腕上，極富裝飾意味。裙子與帔帛采取寫實手法表現，衣紋流暢，質感較强。左右肩花上的蓮莖分別從蓮座和左手心生出，蜿蜒向上，造型優美自然。菩薩手和足皆飾釧躅，右手當胸結三寶印，右手置膝作施與印，舒坐于雙層仰覆蓮臺上。上下各飾有一道連珠紋。仰覆蓮瓣秀長飽滿有力，主瓣間露出下層蓮瓣的一角，微微上翹。座底飾十字金剛杵紋。整像造型優美，工藝細膩考究，像身比例舒適，手、脚等細部極具寫實性，既符合西藏佛像的相好標準，又融匯了漢地的審美觀念和傳統表現形式，堪稱明代佛教金銅造像的巔峰之作。

– 冠冕正面有損失，右手食指有損失，肩部蓮花背面也有損失。
– 表面有預期的磨損。
– 底座上有一些小的缺口，底板現已遺失。
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
– Loss to the front of the crown, to one finger on the proper right hand, and to the backs of th elotus flowers on his shoulders.
– Expected surface wear.
– There are a few small chips along the base, and the base plate is now missing.

Very few and minor nicks and scratches with associated losses to gilding overall, as visible in illustration and upon firsthand inspection. Casting flaws include on center of chest below chin, on the proper right side of torso, around bottom rim of base, and on scarf ends with small cracks on the scarf beneath the arms, as visible in illustration or upon firsthand inspection.

Inlaid with silver eyes and copper lips, this fine bronze figure of Maitreya bears stylistic similarity to works associated with the ancient Kingdom of Guge in Western Tibet. Compare with a bronze sculpture of Vajradhara at the Rubin Museum of Art (HAR item no. 65759) which displays similar facial features originating in early Kashmiri prototypes, most notably the high arching eyebrows, wide almond-shaped eyes with protruding lids, and small bow-shaped lips. Compare the thin, tightly rendered petals of the double lotus base with a Guge Kingdom bronze figure of Nairatmya from a private collection (HAR item no. 30555).

MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The Primordial Buddha is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his hands held before his chest in vajramudra. He is clad in heavy robes with a lozenge-shaped clasp at his left shoulder, and his benevolent face is surmounted by a tiara.
