Fine Japanese Meiji period gilt and patinated bronze metalwork figure of a pheasant. It is marked on the underside with Japanese characters in a vertical rectangle, the signature of the Meiji sculptor Masatsune Chu. It comes with its original naturalistic carved wood base. In very good used condition with wear to gilt, patina and wood base as shown. Shipped professionally packed, fully insured with tracking number.

Measurements: Entire piece including pheasant and base is 10 1/2″ high (26.7 cm); Pheasant is 16 1/2″ long by 7 1/2″ tall by 6 1/2″ widest point (wings) (42 cm by 19 cm by 16.5 cm); Wood Base is 21″ long by 8″ wide by 3″ high (53 cm by 20 cm by 7.6 cm) approximately.
